We, new Americans, have to learn many new customs, traditions, behaviors in order to be successful and, more importantly, to be safe in this country. Many of us don't even know how to act while interacting with police. Lack of basic knowledge can turn into a very dramatic situation or even real tragedy. Just recently, I posted an article on a young man from Kazakhstan who got shot and killed by a police office because of his irrational behavior. This was a huge tragedy and tremendous loss for his family.
Below, I am providing appropriate behavior guidelines on how to properly act towards police officers. I hope this educational material could safe somebody's life.
HOW TO RESPOND WHEN LAW ENFORCEMENT ARRIVES ON SCENE
• Remain calm, and follow officers instructions
• Immediately raise your hands and spread your fingers
• Keep hands visible at all times
• Avoid making quick movements towards officers such as attempting to hold onto them for safety.
• Avoid pointing, screaming, and/or yelling
• Do not stop to ask officers for help or direction when evacuating; just proceed in the direction from wish officers are entering the premises.
КАК ВЕСТИ СЕБЯ ПРИ ПОЯВЛЕНИИ ПОЛИЦИИ
• Сохраняйте спокойствие и следуйте указаниям офицеров.
• Немедленно поднимите руки и раздвиньте ваши пальцы.
• Постоянно держите руки в поле зрения полиции.
• Избегайте делать быстрые движения по отношению к офицерам в попытках искать в них спасение и защиту таких как попытку проведения на них в целях безопасности.
• Не махайте руками в направлении полицейских, не кричите и не повышайте голоса.
• При необходимости эвакуации, не переставайте просить полицеских помочь эвакуироваться или просто перемещайтесь в направлениии места откуда полиция появилась.
